Elvis singing Bridge Over Troubled Water. Amazing vocals, the best version of the song i’ve ever heard. I’ve put up a collection of pictures but this is all about the audio. Enjoy.

true in the 50s Elvis was more of himself and was only bemused by it! More of himelf meaning he was in his right mind!
Unfortunately in laters years he started taking it a little seriously that was in the 70s if i am correct.. that’s was when his mind was being fucked up by the colonel. Under the Colonel Elvis had very little to zero peace of mind!
@Zecalran That’s true. And I can recall reading in one of the many books about an amusing situation between Little Richard and Elvis back in the late 50′s, evidently Little Richard took issue with the stations back then declaring Elvis as the King, so, Little Richard shows up at the gates of Graceland DEMANDING to see Elvis to ‘ settle this once and for all, ‘ I’m not dissing Richard here, 4 he was like Elvis, very young at the time, But again, Elvis was bemused by it all. Could’ve cared less.
they use to call him the king in the 50s too then he knew how to handle it, it didn’t mean a thing to him he knew it was all apart of the hysteria and adulation of the time and only just went along with it!
@Zecalran ; And your comment was pure, and simply beautiful. So True! I’ve noticed over the years that the artists of today always feel a need to proclaim themselves to be the best and/or greatest! Which Elvis never did do. If anything he downplayed the adulation bestowed upon him. There is that one infamous moment when a group of fans held up a banner that read ” Elvis Is The King, ” in midsong, he stopped singing and said ” I’m not the king, Jesus is the king. ” Too funny! Anyway, nice post.
You cracked me up! XD he sounded like a suicidal candidate himself! XD ahahahaha..With the possible allusion to those that give up at the sight of trials and troubles or amidst them!
He sure did…but then again he also sais Jackie Wilson was the best singer in the world at some point. Elvis loved talented artists and was always very complimentary of his colleagues. To me Elvis was not only the King of Rock and Roll, he was the greates singer/performer in american popular music.
The best ! Elvis Presley !
@JustMeOrMaybeNot Elvis said the King of Rock n Roll was Fats Domino!!
On the other hand we are not talking about “King of the Universe” or “King of the World”, just rock.
Sounds reasonable to me.
@JustMeOrMaybeNot that’s because he doesn’t need nor want worldly titles from man to be what he was meant to be naturally by God! Elvis is Elvis pure and simple no Kingship or titles needed!
The best yesterday, today and tomorrow! Hands down.
It’s clear why he is called THE KING
An unbelievable voice. Simply amazing, never heard anything like it and doubt I ever will. I hope he is finally resting in peace.
@VienneseDelights – Finally a voice of reason!!! Elvis did 1000% better job on this song than Simon & Garfungus. I’ve been getting into to it with those jackasses in the S&G version because their bashing Elvis and I can’t take that crap!!! NOBODY has a voice as awesome as the king, AMEN.
Much better than Simon & Garfunkels version.
Elvis had a powerful voice and that makes the lyrics believeable. Garfunkel is hard to imagine as “bridge over troubeled water” as he sounds like suicide candidate himself.
If I die that is what I want at my funeral. Then king rocks!
I love this song
Elvis does this song wonderful touches your soul!
This is a magnificent song all on its own. I have to say Elvis does a more moving version than any I have heard. I would say that he is the king, but he wouldn’t have liked that.
and you are a looser forever, just watch your elvis and shut up your mouth, thank you.
Wonderfful!!!
I am from Brazil!!
Elvis é imortal ; lindo de corpo e alma!
Voz inconfundível!!!!
Gosto muito do Elvis cantando músicas romanticas !!!! Demais! this is like a Dream! I love the song´s Elvis!!!!
I am from Brazil -São Paulo the best city of Brasil! Congratulations for all !
as an ardent ‘Bridge’ fan of S & G since 1969, & yep i said 1969…never thought i would listen to a version i would enjoy as much as their own, BUT gotta say Elvis adds a different dimension to it, just lovely, different not better, not worse, thanks for posting it
xxx
elvis is No1 .. forever
No offense to you but as I am not much of a fan boy I tend to judge each piece on it’s own merit.
I never liked a single song Elvis Presley ever wrote.
